My Life, My Prison…

Life resembles my prison,
Locked without a key in sight,
No one tries to listen,
For the freedom I fight for.

To climb the walls of insanity,
To ride the waves of despair,
Falling into darkness too deep to escape,
For there’s not a helping hand to spare.

Used to wish for a window,
To see the birds, trees and sky,
But you’re better off without one,
For it stops you from aiming too high.

Watching as others flaunt their freedom,
Seeing their joy, love, and happiness,
Is a price you have to pay,
For those locked away.

The weak loses where the strong prevails,
Be it the fight for survival,
Or the fight for freedom,
You mind makes the choice,
But your heart suffers the consequences.

Cell walls built by society,
With rules to adhere.
If you breach the acceptable,
You had better beware.

Hide the pain, carry on,
Routine is the key.
Don’t let on that you’re not,
What you’re pretending to be.

Lock it all up inside you,
How badly that bodes.
Look out for that one day,
When it all just explodes.

Leaving naught but a shell,
Base functionality too.
But killing all else,
That was uniquely you.

So how do you grow,
With a time bomb inside?
Or how to defuse it,
Without destroying its ride?

You can’t…

Don’t let life overwhelm you, you’ll just bring about your own death with your hands around your neck, choking yourself to death trying to please those around you, seeking for that certain approval, seeking for that certain expectation. Living in a lie…just stop, and let go…
